Audrey sat at her desk in health class, her pen tapping against the desk. This was, by far, her least favorite class. Who actually liked health? Most of the teachers were strange, and that was the nicest way to put it. They seemed as though they might kill you if you disobeyed them. Yikes.
"Tonight's homework. . ." the teacher started, Audrey instantly drowning her out. I'm not gonna do the homework. I never do. hasn't she learned? If she didn't do her homework this time, which was very likely, she would probably get a detention. But it didn't bother her at all. The bell rang, and Audrey's spirits were instantly lifted.
Knowing next period was math, her next stop was her locker. Dumping the unneeded books in, Audrey slammed the door shut. Fuck math. I hate it. That was probably why it was her worst subject. No one bugged her for it, so she didn't care one bit.
Pushing open the door, she exited through the back of the school building. That was the way you went if you cut. You were least likely to get caught. She was headed towards the bleachers, of course. Wasn't that where everyone skipped?
Making her way across the field, Audrey looked around to make sure no one could see her. She didn't want to get caught. Walking three more feet, she had finally reached the bleachers. Slipping under them, she sat down on a clean area and grabbed her iPod out of her backpack. Chic N' Stu by System Of A Down blasted through the earphones in her ears. It was loud, but not too loud, because she heard someone else approaching the bleachers.

James walked up towards the bleachers, skipping his math class. "God I hate Math," he muttered to himself. He turned up his ipod and played Escape the Fate. Going around the edge of the building, James approached the bleachers. He maneuvered around the bend and went under the bleachers. He noted some one was there, it was pretty hard to not notice her pink hair. He sat down about a yard away. He looked over at her, interested in who she was. He looked away trying not to seem awkward.

Audrey heard the person, and looked over when she was sure they were sitting down, minding their own business. She studied him quickly. From what she could see, he seemed to be in her clique. That was good. They would most likely get along. Pulling out one earbud, she wondered whether she should say something. Why not? "Hey. What class are you skipping?" Sure, she could have said a million better things, but she wasn't sure of what to say. Besides, it would at least start a conversation. And that was pretty much the only thing she wanted.

James was a little startled when she talked to him. People didn't usually talk to him, they just passed him by. He looked over at her slowly, not to be overly excited. "Oh, math. I am not a math person." he told her. He didn't want to seem all that uninterested, so he thought of something to say. "I'm James by the way." he told her. She didn't have to answer, but he hoped she would.

Audrey grinned a bit. "Neither am I. That's the class I'm skipping as well. Not my best subject either." Ah, someone who shares my dislike for math. We will get along. Okay, so that really wasn't a sure sign of that, but it would help.
"I'm Audrey," she replied, smiling politely. Audrey did not want to seem rude in front of him. He seemed like someone she could most definitely get along with. That didn't happen all that often in a school full of preps and jocks. Friends were good.

James smiled when she mentioned a dislike for math. She looked as if he was a bit like her, well the same clique at least. He looked over at her, smiling a bit when he caught her name. "It's good to meet you Audrey. You're the first friendly face I've seen all day." he told her, extending a hand for her to shake. "Oh and I've already been warned about the Royalty. In fact, they shoved me around a bit." he explained.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too," Audrey replied, being sincere. James would probably make her life in Livingston Heights a bit better. They would definitely get along, and he wasn't that bad looking, at least in Audrey's opinion. She took his outstretched hand, shaking it.
"The kids in Royalty are asses. If you aren't one of them they instantly think you're trash. They pick on everyone. Last year one of them stuck a wad of gum in my hair I was so pissed." Audrey would have been so mad if her hair wasn't the only thing about herself she was really proud of. I mean, who wouldn't be proud of hair like hers? It was long (not because of extensions), styled in a way she absolutely loved, and it was bright pink. My hair is freaking amazing.

James smiled a bit. She was sincere as far as he could tell. She seemed like someone he could trust. He laughed a bit when she said someone put gum in her hair. "Well that's mature. Besides, who would want to mess up such amazing hair." he told her. "You're hair is amazing, it's pink. Anyone who has the guts to do something like that is my hero." he offered, even though he wasn't sure what he was talking about.

Audrey laughed a bit when he said she had amazing hair. She didn't really think much of dying it pink. It was just something she wanted to do. "The Royalty frown upon individuality. They find it stupid and a waste of time. They don't get why we shouldn't all be a carbon copy of each other." They are idiots. Individuality shapes the world and our community.
"It doesn't take that much. You just gotta have a mindset where you won't let anyone make you feel bad for being yourself. If you don't want to be made fun of though, then you shouldn't do it. People will give you all kinds of names for being different, but they stop after a bit if they see it doesn't bother you." Audrey had gotten her fair share of taunting. She dint' let it bother her though, and the name calling stopped quickly. They didn't find it as fun if she didn't react.

James thought about what she was saying. He had let people put him down his entire life. It got tiering after some 10 odd years. "Yeah, I guess you have a point." he told her feeling a bit off. "Well, anyway. You can call me Jimmy." He said to her, starting to finally be more comfortable in this new strange setting. He looked over at her curiously. "So, is there anything interesting to do in this town?" he asked.

Audrey grinned a bit. He must be getting used to me. "Most people call me Audrey, but you can call me Aud, if you'd like. Or make up a nickname. I don't really care what it is." As long as he wasn't making fun of her, which she knew he wouldn't, any nickname was fine. She was pretty laid back.
"This town," Audrey started, "Is extremely boring. There pretty much is nothing to do." Maybe there were a few concerts here or there, but there was never much. "There are very few concerts, and the club is probably where most people hang out if they want fun. Anyone can find a random hook-up there if they're looking for it. Sometimes more." She knew of quite a few people who went there for one night stands. he doesn't seem like that type though.

James laughed a bit, a boring town, huh? He thought. Ehh, there's not much to do about that. James shook his head when she mentioned, "one night stands." Those were definitely not his thing. "Haha, one night stands? No offense, but the whole idea of that is a bit off. I don't mind hook-ups, but sex? No, that's not for me." he told her. "Haha, sorry. I have strong opinions." he added.

"Exactly. I don't do one night stands. And if I go for anything, it's a hook-up, and even that's rarely. I'd prefer to wait for a relationship." Audrey hadn't been in many, but she felt more comfortable being intimate with a boyfriend than a stranger. You knew all about the boyfriend, and you'd see them the next day. The stranger, not so much.
"I'm opinionated too. I get yelled at for it often." Mouthing off to teachers was something she did. She wasn't smart for doing it, but she couldn't help it. Audrey liked her opinions more than others'. "I just don't like what the teachers tell em about certain things."

"It's good to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. You know, about one night stands." James told her, laughing a bit. "Yeah, opinions are fun. If I had to go a day without them, I'd die." he added. James looked back down at his ipod for a minute, Slipknot - Vermillion. He smiled to himself, as he loved the song. "So, do you like slipknot?" he asked, redirecting his attention to Audrey.

"Yeah. They're kinda the reason my last relationship didn't last too. My ex was, and still is, always having one night stands. We're on okay terms though. I knew he was like that." Audrey laughed a bit at that. Was Chuck ever any other way? No. He's been like that since I met him.
"I know. Most of my conversations are about how I feel about things because I disagree with the other person." Audrey disagreed with most people. She just had extremely strong opinions that no one could change or influence. It was annoying to most.
"Slipknot? Love 'em. I've seen them once or twice." She had definitely seen them once, but twice she wasn't so sure. Audrey hadn't been paying a lot of attention to the band because someone was talking to her. Someone she actually got along with. Of course, she never saw the person again, which kind of sucked.
