Sydney walked into her English class boredly. She wasn't too sure why she had actually turned up instead of skipping under the bleachers. She walked over to her usual desk a few rows from the back. Dropping her books on her desk, she sat down and put her bag on the floor next to her.
"Ah, Miss Williams, nice to see you for a change." The teacher said from the front of the classroom. Sydney said nothing and leant back in her chair boredly. She doodled on her notebook, not listening to a word the teacher was saying. Romeo and Juliet. They had studied it so many times and she never learnt anything new.
Sydney tapped her foot boredly and looked at the clock. She noticed one of the Royalty sitting near the front. She considered chucking a paper ball at them but she knew the teacher was watching her. Just because she hadn't turned up to her last two English lessons they watched her like a criminal. This sure won't be worth it. Really I should have skipped.

What are we doing in class again? Vanity thought, her face scrunching up in concentration. ROMEO AND JULIET! she remembered, grinning at the thought of re-reading her favorite play. She walked happily to class, waving to random people as she passed by.
She walked in, flashing a smile at the the teacher as she passed the desk. Vanity hurried to her seat, eager to begin reading the play. She loved Romeo and Juliet, the passion, the romance, the tragic ending. Shakespeare was her favorite Elizabethan play write, well, that may be because he was the only Elizabethan play write she knew.
Vanity waited as the roles were called, begging silently for the teacher to call 'Juliet'. Hearing the character's name, her hand shot in the air, her mind pleading to get the part. When her name was called, she celebrated inside her head. She couldn't do it out loud, then everyone would know how big of a dork she really was. As she turned the page to the first act of the play, she read along until it was her turn to speak. If only her life was like Romeo and Juliet. Without the violence, suicides, and feuding of course.

Sydney watched boredly as some stuck up prep walked into the room, waving to random people in the class. Rolling her eyes, she carried on doodling. She hated Romeo an Juliet. Her favourite part? The end. Her reason? Because it was over. She didn't need to listen to the teacher droning on. The sooner her english class was over, the sooner Sydney would be happy again.
Sydney propped her chin on her hand as the teacher began to read out the parts. Instantly, the hand of the stuck up prep shot up. God, how sad can one person be? She thought. Even though she hated the Royalty, she also hated the preps. They were the next step down from the Royalty, and a couple of them had even wormed their way to the top.
Not following with the rest of the class, Sydney attempted not to fall asleep. She turned the page in her notebook and carried on doodling. If the teacher started moaning at her she wouldn't stop. Thankfully the teacher was too engrossed in the play to give a crap what she was doing.

Vanity continued to read, struggling to keep emotion from pouring into her voice. This was the greatest romance story in history, even though the ending always left her on the verge of tears. She could picture herself as Juliet, loving Romeo so much, but not being able to be with him. Her eyes scanned the page, reading along as Romeo read his lines. This kid couldn't do him justice. Sighing, her thoughts trailed off. When would she find her Romeo?
"Um, Miss Cruz? It's your turn to continue reading," the teacher called, interrupting her daydreams. "Uh, sorry sir," she blushed, fumbling over the words before she calmed herself down. Pay more attention, Vee, Vanity scolded herself, shaking her head. Sometimes she wished she wasn't such a spaz.
Realizing that she had no lines for a few pages, Vanity looked about the room, her crystal blue eyes stopping on a girl with fiery red hair. She's not even paying attention, Vanity thought, shaking her head. She hated people like that, even though she never showed it, Vanity took school very seriously. Why come to school if you're not going to learn anything?
Rolling her eyes, Vanity turned to face the front, patiently waiting for her turn again. She sat quietly, her eyes roaming over each page, remembering every word. She recited the lines in her mind, her memory giving her the next word. Yep, this was the greatest play of all time.

Sydney looked up for a moment, noticing the prep looking at her. "Take a picture. It lasts longer." She mouthed, making sure the teacher didn't see. She wasn't normally such a bitch, but after her first day she had always hated the Royalty and anything and anybody that had something to do with them. She knew the girl wasn't Royalty, but most of the preps had something to do with at least one of them.
The Royalty knew that Sydney was new, and decided to pounce on the freshmeat. At the time she knew nothing about the Royalty or the cliques of the school. They had chewed her up and spat her out. Ever since she has tried to avoid them and had pretty much succeeded. Except for the time that some idiot member of the Royalty had tried to start a conversation with her under the bleachers. But that was a different matter.
Sydney looked at somebody infront of her in an attempt to see what the page was. She flicked through the book until she found it. Even though she wasn't listening, the least she could do was make it look like she was. At least that way if the teacher walked past they couldn't accuse her of not listening.

Vanity grinned, shaking her head at the girl. "Now, why would I want a picture of you?" she mouthed back, wondering why the girl was acting like such a, well, bitch. Shrugging, she turned back around, her eyes back on the page. Juliet still had no lines, so she sat boredly, listening to Romeo drone on and one, his voice in a constant monotone.
"God, don't sound too enthusiastic," she muttered, ignoring the dirty looks she received from the boy. She flashed him a smile, giving him a small wink. He blushed and turned back to the play, a smile on his face. Vanity's face scrunched up in disgust as he looked away. Gross, why am I so friendly? she thought, rolling her eyes. Now he was going to think she was attracted to him or something.
Her thoughts traveled back to the girl, and she decided to take matters into her own hands. Pulling out a sheet of paper, she grabbed her black ink pen and began to write.
Hey, what's wrong with you? I don't mean it in a rude way. You just seem...angry at me. What have I done to you?
She folded the note, and handed it to someone to pass over to the girl. Vanity turned back to the play just in time, Juliet finally had a line. Reading, she looked over at "Romeo" from her peripheral vision. Feeling sick to her stomach, she closed her eyes, trying to ignore his hungry stare. Oh boy, she inwardly groaned, reciting the rest of Juliet's line from memory.

Sydney rolled her eyes. To her all the preps were the same. Especially when it came to the insults. They were all the same, and when they couldn't think of any more they just began to repeat themselves. She sat boredly when the kid infront of her passed her a note.
Taking it from him, she tried to figure out who it was. Take two guesses. She thought, rolling her eyes once again. She opened it and read it. She was slightly surprised about what she had written, considering all the other preps hated her.She turned it over, looking for her pen.
The preps gave me a hard time when I started here. Most of them hate me, it's hard to tell which ones don't.
Sydney scribbled. Although, the preps did annoy her. Or at least the ones she knew. They always wore the shortest skirts on sale and flirted with every boy in sight. She hated how they did that day in and day out. They hated her and she hated them. What was wrong with that?

Vanity sighed, waiting for the note to be passed back. She sat silently, looking around the room at the posters on the wall. She cringed, hiding the grin on her face. Man, these posters are laaammmeee, she thought, giggling a bit.
A piece of paper flew onto her desk, and she snatched it up, figuring it must be from the girl. Reading it she rolled her eyes and turned towards Romeo. "Leave.me.alone," she mouthed to him, sending him a glare. As he looked sadly in the other direction she let out another sigh. Boys.
Another piece of paper landed on her desk, and she took it, cautiously this time. She let out a breath of relief when she realized that it was in fact from the girl.
Well, I'm not a prep. I'm Vanity. And even if I was, that's no reason to automatically hate me. After all, Yogi was different than the average bear, correct? Ha, I'm cool with everyone, so what if I'm a Popular? I don't diss anyone until they disrespect me. I can't, however, control how my friends act though, sorry ):
She sent the note back, making sure it reached the girl. She turned away from Romeo's obvious stares, looking back to her book.

Sydney heard something land on her desk, startling her slightly. She picked it up and unfolded it. It was obviously from the girl, she was sure there was nobody else that knew her in the class. She read it, and silently pulled a sheet of paper out of her notebook. She took the lid of her pen, checking that the teacher wasn't paying attention.
The names Sydney. I'm okay with most of the cliques, except the Royalty, and the populars. Well, except one. ^_^
Sydney nudged the people infront of her, her eyes on the teacher most of the time. If he noticed he would probably read aloud to the whole class. That was something she didn't want. She made sure it reached Vanity, and tucked her fiery orange-red hair behind one of her ears.

"Romeo, Romeo, where fore art thou Romeo?" Vanity read, smiling as the play reached the balcony scene. her favorite part. After Romeo finished his line, he gave her a wink, a smirk on his face. Rolling her eyes, her eyes scanned the page, she knew the lines, but she chose to say something else instead. "O Romeo, please get a clue. It's obvious to everyone in the entire play, that Juliet doesn't want you," she said, raising an eyebrow at the persistent boy, the students around her laughing.
"Miss Cruz, I think someone else would be better suited to read Juliet's lines, don't you agree?" The teacher said, a nasty look on his face. "Actually, I think I delivered the lines quite well sir, I'm sure I got my point across. But you should do what you feel is best, even if it is the wrong choice," she said, giving him a big smile. "Fine then," he said, curtly, picking another girl to read.
Just as his focus shifted, a note hit Vanity's desk. She sighed, praying that it wasn't from the idiot who couldn't take a hint. Opening it, she smiled. Have I made a new friend?, she thought to herself, beaming.
I hope I'm the exception. If not, then grr on you she passed it back, her eyes on the teacher. No reason to push her luck, she hated the principals office.

Sydney laughed as Vanity told Romeo where he should stick it. Even though she hated Shakespere, a modern version was always made it more entertaining. She was relieved as she saw the note hit Vanity's desk just as he had begun to focus on something else. Any point earlier, and she would definitely have put her foot in it.
Sydney waited for her reply. She smiled as something brushed her hand. Opening the note and reading it, she took the lid off her pen with her teeth. She ripped out a piece of paper and checked that the teacher wasn't looking. Normally, when she hadn't attened class in a few days he hardly removed her gaze from her.
Oh, it is. The others only talk to me to insult me. So rawr on you. P.S-Like the new take on Romeo and Juliet.
Writing, Sydney smiled slightly. She liked having a laugh, she was always making Josh almost fall off his chair at times. Even thought she was said to be one of the emos, she still had a sense of humor.

Vanity sat, looking lazily at the pages, her mind somewhere else. Wow, I'm usually more focused, she scolded herself, staring hard at the book. As the words began to blur together, she decided to give it up. She'd read the play enough to know what was going to happen next. Sighing, she tapped her fingers on the desk, sitting quietly as she waited for her note to arrive.
Just as she was beginning to feel impatient, the note landed on her desk, she retrieved it with a smile. Pulling out her pen, she opened the note. The purple ink spilled onto the page and she grinned, it was her favorite color after all.
YAY! I feel loved. Don't worry about them anymore. If they mess with you, I got your back. =D P.S. I'm glad you liked it. Sometimes Romeo isn't worth all the trouble.
She grinned, finishing the note. She folded it back, making the shape of a triangle. Vanity was always one for crafts. Sending the note back to Sydney, she eyed the teacher, making sure he didn't look up and realize what was happening.

Sydney yawned quietly, holding the book infront of her face so the teacher didn't see. Almost everything about the class was boring, except from sending notes across the classroom to Vanity. If it wasn't for her, she would have probably asked to go to the toilet and skipped class. At least she would have gotten the attendance mark.
Suddenly, a triangular note hit Sydney's desk. She smiled to herself, opening it. She smiled and grabbed yet another piece of paper. Thankfully she had a talent for ripping it out quietly, otherwise she would have been caught at least half an hour ago.
WEW! I feel... I feel like somebody has my back, heehee! Oh, that Romeo isn't worth anything.
Sydney wrote quickly, making sure the teacher knew nothing. She felt like throwing it, but that would be even more risky than sending it across the classroom. She passed it the normal way, checking the teacher now and then. A gentle sigh passed her lips, and she looked up at the clock.

Is this class ever going to end?, Vanity yawned, stifling the sound with her hand. Normally she was more interested in class, but with the events of the period, she was having more fun talking to Sydney. Which was odd, they came from different groups, but they got a long just fine. Labels and cliques shouldn't really matter as much as they do.
Just as she started to concentrate on her book, the note was passed back to her. Giggling she wrote back.
Haha, mhm. I've got your front too. Not to mention your side. OH, can't forget your feet. Wouldn't want anything to happen to those. Geez, he keeps staring over at me. I want to flip him off, but that'd be rude.
Vanity re-folded the note, tossing it to the person beside her. It's amazing that they hadn't been caught so far. Normally the teacher was a note master, looks like he's been slacking. That or he was really into the story.

Sydney let out a loud sigh, not caring if she disturbed anybody around her. She shot one of the Royalty a dirty look as they turned around to look at her, and tapped her pencil on the table. A note hit her desk and she smiled as she opened it. The class was boring, the teacher was boring, the play was boring in most places.
Oh yeah. My feet are real important. If I were you I'd just do it.
Sydney wrote, joking. She passed it around making sure it reached Vanity, and then started scrawling a song on another empty page. When boredom calls, so did song writing. What she wanted to write a song about, she had no clue. But at least it was better than nothing at all.
